Ötztal Glacier

The highest mountain in the county is the Wildspitze, and the largest glacier region in the eastern Alps is found in the Ötztal Alps. The Piburger Lake is the warmest swimming lake in the county and is situated in a lovely natural landscape on the edge of Oetz.

Stuiben Waterfall

A true spectacular of nature – the Stuiben Waterfall near Umhausen. Tyrol’s largest and most beautiful waterfall has been awarded with the Tyrolean Certificate for Quality Mountain Trails. The waterfall has a drop of 150 m, the water cascadingdown into the depths and creating a magnificent play of colours in the sunshine.

Ötzi’s Village

Since mid-July 2000 Ötztal has gained another cultural sensation: Ötzi’s Village, an archaeological open-air park where visitors can get a glimpse into the life, living and trade in the New Stone Age era. The world famous discovery of the Man in Ice, named Ötzi, is from the 4th millennia before Christ and forms an archaeological figurehead for the whole of the Ötztal region.
